It was an exciting week at Pooka Designs HQ, as I was one of the featured Craftspeople on the RTE television show ‘ Craft Master’ new season series (season 2), which aired this week. Iwas one of the millinery apprentices, where I got to realise my dream of working with a master milliner! Linda Mc Kay, based in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, was my amazing hat making mentor for the week. I learned so much from her, I only wish I could go back and work with her for longer. We had a good time working together, having a similar design aesthetic and I just loved her work. It was great to work with fellow milliner Antoinette O Mahoney from Kerry and Hair stylist Pat O neill also from Kerry. Being behind the scenes of the tv programme in the making was an interesting experience to say the least, and I have to say I was a bit nervous about it all, but I didnt find it quite as scary as I expected to be on camera! A lot of the time, I was so busy trying to get my hat design perfected in the limited time we had, that I was concentrating hard on that, and not noticing the camera over my shoulder!
